Join Savannah for a public town hall on April 14 at 6 p.m. in the Coastal Georgia Center. Tell your elected representative about the problems he should be working to solve for you.
Ask your question at this form: https://form.jotform.com/250836260022144.
Our current representative, Earl "Buddy" Carter, has not held a public, face-to-face meeting with his district constituents since 2017. So even though he has over $3 million in cash on hand, his constituents are pooling together their money to rent out a space on his behalf.
In his recent absence from public meetings, he has voted to cut Medicaid and Medicare and other crucial services to pay for a billionaire's tax cut that will ADD to the debt, raising its limit to $4 trillion (https://apnews.com/article/johnson-trump-republicans-budget-vote-tax-cuts-4cb74ca15f6a74a7344355e4507ab9fe).
He has stood by silently as the unelected and unconfirmed Elon Musk has directed DOGE to unconstitutionally block Congress's funding (of federal workers in Social Security, National Parks, the VA, and more; of direct foreign aid that is costing the lives of thousands even now), while also not even significantly cutting government spending (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/mar/15/doge-pentagon-defense-spending).
He has directly, frivolously, and undemocratically advocated for an expensive, imperialist takeover of Greenland, determined to call it "Red, White, and Blueland" (https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1161).
Buddy's actions and inaction do not help Savannah and do not help the first district. He'll show up to be in a parade, but so far he has not shown up to hear from anyone other than his big-spending donors. Only 3% of his donations come from donors giving less than $200, while more than half of his donations come from big PACs (https://www.opensecrets.org/members-of-congress/buddy-carter/summary?cid=N00035346).
Rep. Carter and other esteemed representatives are invited to hear their constituents and their everyday concerns in a place where they cannot be ignored or shut away.
Join us and ask your representative your questions.
